ICTA Announces 2020 Boutin Grant Recipients
The Iowa Community Theatre Board of Directors announces the 2020 Boutin Grant Awards:
- Brick Street Theatre- $250 to be used toward the purchase of equipment needed for set construction and strike. Brick Street Theatre has 3 venues, a partnership with the Parks and Recreational Department, Tech Student Directors to aide in set construction and strike, but no tools. With the Boutin Grant Brick Street Theatre will be able to purchase equipment and not rely solely on the kindness of cast and crews.
- Emmetsburg Mainstreet Community Theatre – $500 to be used towards a choreography master class to be offered in the spring of 2020. The Choreography Master Class will be offered with a goal to train choreographers, expose participants to new and different dance moves, as well as provide a connection with other local theatres.
- Rich Heritage Cedar Rapids – $500 to be used toward the upgrade and enhancement of the theatre sound system. By improving the theatre’s sound system, RHCR will have improved capabilities for performing large scale productions with more robust audio coverage yielding a richer theatre experience and the ability to host live musical performances in the venue expanding how our theatre impacts the community.
- Story Theater Company – $500 towards a free stage lighting workshop. Taught by Jim Trenberth, former ISU Theatre Department Lighting Designer, the lighting workshop would meet weekly for 4 to 6 weeks. The lighting workshop would be held in STC’s black box theatre, using STC’s lighting equipment and software. Over the course of STC’s multi-week workshop, participants will gain an in-depth understanding of lighting design and operation.
2020 Boutin Grants must be used prior to December of 2020. Boutin Grants reimburse for expenses incurred, once documentation of expenditure is presented to the ICTA Treasurer. Please contact Gerard Schwickerath, Treasurer if you have questions.
